EOTC Week 2016

August 22nd – August 26th 2016

Health and Medical Details forms:  Please see attachments at bottom of page.

2016 Year 7 & 8 Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) is an important element of the New Zealand Health and Physical Education Curriculum. EOTC opportunities should develop personal and physical skills and provide students with opportunities to take part in activities and events that promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

During term three, our students will participate in a four-day EOTC programme facilitated by a number of different organisations. The programme structure allows for skill development in the following outdoor activities: team problem solving, high ropes confidence activities, kayaking, rock climbing, rafting, water safety and adventure based activities.

We can now confirm the places we are going to are
· Tree Adventures (High Ropes)
· Wero White Water Park (Rafting)
· SnowPlanet (Snowboarding or Skiing)
· The Millennium Institute of Sport (Kayaking, Water Safety, Rock Climbing and Snorkelling)

Our students will be taught the essential skills in each activity with a highly trained instructor before starting the activity and in some cases, won’t be allowed to participate in the activity until the instructor feels confident that the student has demonstrated the required skill.

The Year 7 & 8 EOTC programme will have a budgetary impact for our families and I would like to give you as much notice as possible to prepare for this and encourage you to start making payments as soon as possible. The cost is $175.00 per child, this cost includes the instructors, the activities and the transportation to get to the venues.

As we would love to see every student participate in this week we will do everything possible to support you, so your child can be a part of this exciting and challenging week.

PAYMENT:

A deposit of $50 is payable by June 24th.
Following on from this you have a number of options for payment, including:
· balance of full payment of $125
· weekly automatic payment basis ($15),
· a fortnightly basis ($30)

Total payment of $175 to reach us by Monday 1st August 2016.

Please contact the Principal, Stephen Johnston, if you are having any difficulty with these payments to organise an alternative.

The students participating in the EOTC week will be issued receipts every time a payment is made. Please keep these receipts for your records. A letter will be issued when final payment has been received.

I appreciate this is a lot of money to pay in a short amount of time. However in order to secure our venue, instructors and transportation, it is important that money is paid promptly.

Please note we will only be able to refund 50% of money paid in the event a child withdraws from the programme, for any reason, due to non-refundable deposits made to providers.

Should you have any queries please feel free to phone me before 8:30am or after 3:00pm, or contact me via email any time during the day.

There will be an information evening to answer any questions you may have.

Yours sincerely,
Melissa Gainsford
