Kapa Haka

The purpose of our Kapa Haka roopu is to support our Māori students
to embrace their links to Te Ao Maori. Kapa Haka also allows them to tap into their Māori language and culture but importantly to identity who they are through the art of performing. For our students, it is the beginning of a journey to self-discovery and celebrating the time of coming together with family and friends.

Our students journey starts with our wonderful and talented Whaea Paula along with Te Whanau e Nga Hau e Wha. Their role is to prepare our students to celebrate and share their learning with kapa performances in and out of school. They are also charged with developing new and exciting routines and waiata for our tamariki to perform. These are showcased in our Haka Powhiri, our mihi whakatau and eventually to the community at the annual Koanga Festival.
