Welcome to Pakuranga Intermediate School. We are very proud of our school, learners, teachers and staff, and we look forward to sharing a little about ourselves.
At Pakuranga Intermediate, the foundation of our learning is positive relationships where children and staff show pride, respect, and caring to create a friendly yet challenging environment.
Stephen Johnston, Principal
We have begun the process of organising our school production this year. All students who are interested in being a part of this event need to register their interest in the form below as soon as possible.
We are delighted to launch our new communication and reporting system, Hero: an online sharing platform with a complementary smart app.
Hero allows schools to customise an online environment that enables teachers, students, and families to view and share content anytime, anywhere on any device. The software is secure, easy to use and brings together all school-related information in one place. With Hero, you have the ability to:
Learning posts combined with curriculum information and goal-setting will form an online report that is designed to build year-on-year. Over time, you will have access to written posts, images, video, work samples, and helpful resources all in one place. Over the coming year, staff and students will be posting content to our Hero software. We are looking forward to sharing this with you, including you in your child’s learning journey.
If you have not yet accessed the Hero site or app please go to: go.linc-ed.com
Dear Parents/Whānau,
As part of keeping our school safe we need to be able to respond safely and quickly to a range of emergency situations.
We work alongside an independent company, Harrison Tew®, who specialises in emergency management planning for schools, whose procedures have been successfully implemented in hundreds of schools throughout New Zealand.
As part of maintaining our emergency procedures in our school, specialised training is being conducted with our senior leadership and staff by Harrison Tew® on Thursday 27th March.
The students will also receive information on how to respond in an emergency directed at their respective age groups from either their teacher or Harrison Tew®. We will then be conducting a lockdown exercise under the guidance and support of Harrison Tew®.
During the exercise you will receive a notification from the school, so it is important that your emergency contact details are up to date. The notification will emphasise that this is an exercise/practice and will explain that all updated information will then be posted on the school website.
In a genuine incident, should you become aware of a lockdown or evacuation at the school, can I please ask that you do not attend the school or phone, as we will not be able to respond. Your presence or contact may make it more difficult for us or the emergency services to manage a situation.
We thank you for your support.
Kind regards
Lizzie Greenstreet
Deputy Principal
Dear Parents/Whānau,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you that we have had a bereavement in the school community. Dolly Naidoo taught at Pakuranga Intermediate School from 2001 until 2022. She was a
well-loved staff member and teacher. Many of our past students and whanau will remember her fondly.
Because of the large number of staff affected by Dolly’s passing, Friday will be a slightly different day. A contingent of teachers, including Lizzie and I, will attend the Service on Friday. Although the school will be open as usual, we please ask for your patience while we have many unfamiliar staff teaching children.
Thank you for being so supportive as the staff and community celebrate Dolly's life and attend her service.
