This year we are resuming our exchange trip with Sammu City in Japan. Pakuranga Intermediate has been hosting students from, and travelling to Japan for many years and we have a long-standing relationship with Sammu City and the schools in the area.
The trip is scheduled for the end of Term 3 holidays, from 27th September to 6th October. The approximate cost at this stage is $4,500 per student. We encourage you to contact the office if you have specific questions you would like answered before applying.
Throughout the year it is expected that all students attending the trip will meet once a week during lunchtime to learn some basic language skills, get to know each other, and keep informed of organisational matters. There will also be regular evening parent meetings to answer questions and provide relevant information.
As we have a limited number of spaces (maximum 17 students) all interested students will be required to complete an application form (attached or available from the office) and make a $250 deposit when handing in the application. If your application is unsuccessful, this money will be refunded.
Applications are due by 29th February.
Please note, we do not take parents on the trip and the school does not organise any fundraising activities. You are welcome to fundraise on your own and you may speak with the principal about this if needed.
