Japan 2026

This year we once again have our exchange trip with Sammu City in Japan. Pakuranga Intermediate has been hosting students from, and travelling to Japan for many years and we have a long-standing relationship with Sammu City and the schools in the area.

The trip is scheduled for the end of Term 3 holidays, from 25th September to 4th October (dates TBC). The approximate cost at this stage is $5,000 per student, plus spending money. We encourage you to contact the office if you have specific questions you would like answered before applying. Our meet the teacher evening this week will provide some information and is an excellent opportunity for you to ask questions in person.

Throughout the year it is expected that all students attending the trip will meet once a week during lunchtime to learn some basic language skills, get to know each other, and keep informed of organisational matters. There will also be regular evening parent meetings to answer questions and provide relevant information.

As we have a limited number of spaces, all interested students will be required to complete an application form, available from the office or the link below, and make a $350 deposit when handing in the application. If your application is unsuccessful this money will be refunded.

Applications are due by 11th March.

Please note, we do not take parents on the trip and the school does not organise any fundraising activities. You are welcome to fundraise on your own and you may speak with the principal about this if needed.
